eGenesis expands their fascinating social online game, A Tale in the Desert, by adding additional server shards.
A Tale in the Desert is a fascinating software title simulating life at the dawn of civilization. Take your role as an Ancient Egyptian, who just begins to understand the concepts of society, textiles, and trade. Since 2003, A Tale in the Desert (or ATITD) has captivated the imagination of MMORPG players who wanted more than just the hack-and-slash of equipment and experience grinds.
Today, Teppy - the Pharaoh of ATITD, announced a new server shard would be created for this latest Telling IV, as players also look forward to the upcoming Tale V. This new shard, called Shard Bastet, will open on February 20th, so if you've always wanted to get in on the beginning of a Tale, this is a great opportunity to do just that.
This will be the first time A Tale in the Desert has run a second shard while another telling is currently ongoing. A Tale in the Desert has always been a great sociological experiment, asking questions like "What will happen if players can completely control the world through the use of laws?" and "Will players work together in a project when working against each other could potentially have more benefit to one of them?". This experiment continues with the launching of a new server, to see what will happen when players have no limitations but themselves.
"Every Tale has had its own personality, which I believe is driven not by the game's code, but by the people who participate. We'll put that theory to the test with the most refined Tale in the Desert yet," says Andrew Tepper, President of eGenesis.
